iGEM Leiden is proud to host an online session in which three teams of international students will present how they use synthetic biology in the lab to address important global challenges.

The first team from FCB-UANL (Mexico), will tell us about their research in the replacement of production of environmentally harmful fire fighting foam, inspired by... a frog.

The next team from Aalto-Helsinki (Finland) will tell us more about the innovative research they are leading to detect harmful pharmaceuticals in wastewaters.

Last but not least, the team from Rochester (USA) will tell us how they plan to develop a noninvasive method to detect endometriosis from menstrual effluent.

Everyone can join! Team iGEM Leiden will provide a short introduction on the basic principles of synthetic biology, making this session accessible to anyone, even those without a scientific background!

Information about the projects of the three teams and further details about the symposium are communicated via our social media pages. Link to the Facebook event: https://facebook.com/events/s/igem-symposium-global-goals/761453151329472/?ti=wa

Stay tuned for our second symposium on local challenges that will take place late August!
